Ski seasons are super popular amongst travellers when the temperature drops and the snow starts to fall. If you don’t know what one is, you basically travel to a ski resort and start there for the entire ski season. This tends to span across a few months, with most ski seasons in Europe typically starting in November and ending towards the end of April.
If you’ve never been on a ski trip before, this might not be for you. Technically, you don’t have to be a fantastic skier, but it does help. Yes, you’ll learn as you go, but if you’ve never been before you might hate it!
However, if you are a bit of a skier, here are some compelling reasons to do a ski season in the future:
Meet loads of cool people
Ski seasons are amazing because you stay in a chalet with all the other people doing the ski season. This means you meet loads of awesome people, most of whom are around the same age as you. I know people who went on a ski season and ended up making friends for life. It’s such a sociable thing to do, so if you want to meet new people, it could be perfect for you.
Get paid while you ski
The whole premise of a ski season is that you get to stay in a ski resort, but you also work while you ski. In fact, some ski season contracts have the accommodation written into the contract, meaning it’s free in exchange for work. You could work as a ski instructor, or you may end up with a ski chalet job instead. Either way, you get paid while you’re on holiday. If you’re smart with your money, you could return home with more cash than when you left! You’ll struggle to find many other travel opportunities where work is part of the deal.
Enjoy a party atmosphere
To say that ski resorts get rowdy would be an understatement. Loads of people from all over the world travel to popular ski resorts during the ski season. As a result, you’ll experience loads of awesome parties for months on end. There’s never a dull moment when you’re on a ski season!
See some truly beautiful sights
You will see some of the most beautiful things in the world when you’re on a ski season. Few things compare to the sunrise above a huge snowy mountain, or the sunset as you look down a slope. We tend to think of skiing as a European thing, but there are loads of amazing ski resorts all over the world. Countries like Canada and New Zealand have some famous ski slopes, as does Japan. So, it’s a chance to potentially go to new countries and see some of the most beautiful sights the world has to offer.
It’s clear that a ski season offers much more than skiing down some slopes! If you’re keen to get away for a few months and experience something new, then a ski season might be just what the doctor ordered.
